What are some useful skills one could learn to work in a nonprofit organization?

I am planning to work in a nonprofit and I am trying to make an inventory of useful skills to learn. Thank you guys.

1. For most jobs at a non-profit, skills needed are a lot like a for-profit organization. If you are planning on being a grant-writer, then writing skills are important.
2. Other than basic office skills, a foreign language is a great skill to learn--especially if that language happens to be Spanish or another language in the community the nonprofit organization serves. But perhaps the most important skill to learn is flexibility. Many nonprofit agencies are short-staffed, which means you may find yourself doing several different jobs, e.g. HR and executive-assistant duties. And many nonprofit agencies are on a tight budget, which means you will have to make do with what you have (equipment, supplies, whatever), or improvise.
3. You'll learn all the same things in a for-profit company. Why do you think they will be different? Only difference is that they may not offer benefits, and they dont worship profit above everything else. They do tend to be more people (or employee) centred.
