  1. sAYING omg and being able to bend your elbows to your cheast and un bend them
  2. You have to have really nice sharp motions. Also it helps if you can tumble. You need to have a really loud voice and have a nice happy personality. Smile a lot and be willing to learn!
  3. good leaping ability, and you need to be loud
  4. It's different for different schools but you need to have good jumps (exspecialy toetouches) , you need to have strong arm motions, It helps if you can tumble (backhandspring), and you will need to know how to stunt. Good luck on making the team! Don't be nervous and smile a lot around the coaches.
  5. I have a lot of experience in this, so maybe I can help! Usually, cheerleaders need to be physically fit (coaches tend to make their cheerleaders run, weight train, do push ups, etc.), be able to execute proper jumps and tumbling, not be afraid to cheer and yell, and use proper hand motions. Here are some tips: If you want to be ready in 5 months, here is where you need to start: Make sure you do straddle stretches. Sit with your legs spread as far as they can before it hurts. Reach to one of your feet until it hurts a little, count to ten, and then go to the middle and do the same thing, and the other foot as well. Now, the next good stretch is sitting on your butt, feet straight out in front of you. Reach for your toes and count to ten again. Do this twice, or three times if you can. Also, if you can have someone gently push on you, it would really get you to the splits quicker. Next, the butterfly stretch! Sit on your but with the souls of your feet touching each other. It's kinda like a weird Indian style position. Then, try to touch your head to your feet. Go as far as you can go and hold it for ten seconds. Do this three times, coming up for a breather between each one. Then, press on your knees; try to make them touch the ground. Hold it for ten secounds, for three times. Practicing your splits every day after these stretches will help you immensely. Also practicing things like toe touches on a trampoline will help as well. ALWAYS PRACTICE YOUR SPLITS AT LEAST TWICE A DAY! And for the other parts of cheerleading, you should: Stand in front of the mirror and practice your hand motions. Make sure you do proper "doughnut" hands and if you need help on how those look google it for a picture. Use a loud, strong voice, and SMILE SMILE SMILE! The coaches want confidence! At some schools, tumbling isn't very important, but at others, fantastic tumbling is what gets you a spot on the squad. Make sure you practice "bridges" (lay flat on your back, lift your arms above your head, press them to the ground and raise your body) with straight legs every day to help your back get more flexible. Always stretch before hand though. NEVER ATTEMPT TO TUMBLE WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE! NEVER EVER! If you are a beginner, it isn't worth hurting yourself and there being no one to help you! Try to find a cheerleader friend who will help spot you WHILE an adult is at home. Though I really don't recommend you trying anything too drastic without training. At tryouts, wear very little makeup, and no jewelry. Make sure your nails are cut short so that when you stunt or cheer you don't stab anyone. Your hair needs to be completely out of your face- no bangs! Make sure it is secure in a pony tail, or, if it's short, hold i back with a tight headband. Always say "Yes sir" or "Yes mam" to the coach and judges. If you want to complain about something that has to do with tryouts and/or the people at tryouts, wait until after the results have been posted! Tryouts at each school will vary, but I believe I've covered all the important things. Also, if they have tryout clinics (practices to get you ready for tryouts), go to EACH ONE! DO NOT MISS ONE OF THEM! I know you will do well! Good luck!
